FASHION FRIDAY: Returned from China, Meg & Dee

Meg & Dee are finally back from China!  And Jax & I are up visiting them!

Hopefully you’ll see much more of us after this week.  The transition for all of us (their return and our travel up north) has resulted in us being a little lax in our postings.

Here are some pics of Meg and Dee.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Father’s Day Giveaway: Beer and BBQ (closed)

We have one of the best dads EVER in our household (love you Nate!) so when Father’s Day started looming on the horizon I decided we needed to ask Nate his opinion on what Etsy finds we should feature in a giveaway.  Though he suggested an apron that said “I’m one sexy daddy” or some such similar saying we couldn’t find one anywhere on Etsy so . . .  instead we put together this awesome selection of gifts!

To honor one very special dad we’ve pulled together beer and BBQ themed Etsy vendors who have donated some of their awesome creations to spoil your dad this year!  Here’s what your dad gets if you win:

  • A yummy set of naturally grown herb and spice rubs for back yard grilling from Spice of Life
  • One personalized Father’s Day custom 22oz etched beer glass with your children’s birth dates from Scissor Mill
  • A personalized beer opener key chain that read “My dad rocks!” from Pop Tag
  • In lieu of an apron we decided to go with a cool super hero dad t-shirt from REVOLUTION46R46
  • A sampler 6-pack of NW beers from the local PDX Trader Joe’s donated by Tumblewee

You know the drill, do any of the following for an entry:

  1. Tell us the best memory you have about your dad!
  2. Comment below on your favorite item from Spice of Life
  3. Comment below on your favorite item from Scissor Mill

Fashion Friday: Little Boys Graphic Tees

It’s fashion friday!

It’s funny, both Meg and I are transitioning right.  I’m right in the middle of figuring our my graduate school acceptance and starting summer classes.  Meg just got back from her 3-4 month stay in China for her PHD work, which is why our posts have been a little light(not our usual) as of late.  I thought it would be fun to share with you my favorite thing right now for Jax . . .

GRAPHIC TEES

We’ve pretty much transitioned to using only t-shirts and pants/shorts for Jax.  I find using two pieces easier with a squirmy one year old who won’t lay on his back for anything anymore . . . not even changing a diaper.  It’s a game of finding something that will occupy him while I change his diaper (or his clothes) or I’m chasing after him with a diaper, which he loves being chased.

I’ve found a lot of cute tees at target, old navy, carter’s, and of course WE MAKE THEM!  I shared with you some of our recent creations last week.  If you have a shirt that you want upcycled to a cute baby, toddler, or children’s tee, contact us at our shop or via email  for details.  Here are a few cute ones I found that I’m eying for Jax:

i actually bought this one in Target for really cheap, like $5.

This is supper cute. Love the bright neon color, which is totally popular this summer. Carter’s Tee – $10.50

ummm . . . don’t mom’s rock! of course they do. :) Carter’s Tee – $6

back of the above shirt.

So you get the idea . . . :)  We sometimes go through a couple shirts a day.  What can I say – Jax plays like a little boy, plus he’s learning to eat like a big kid.  So we are both messy often!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday to us!!

If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been and why Ash has taken over the majority of the postings its because my time here in China is winding down and we’re preparing to make the move back to the US.  This involves transitioning my intern for the panda work, playtime with my friend who is visiting, and of course – celebrating my/our 31st Birthday!

Ash and I turned the big 3.1. on the 22nd.  It’s weird for me being officially in my 30’s now!  I can’t believe what has taken place since we started our little double life togetherin the womb to now owning our own little business and blogging with you wonderful people weekly! If you would have told the 15 year old version of myself that I’d be living in China with my daughter studying pandas, she wouldn’t have believed you… in fact it’s still hard for me to believe. But you know what I’m most excited about?

The next 30 years! How I hope that tumblewee grows and prospers under the artistic direction of my talented twin sister and the fabulous support from the handmade and blogging worlds.

Thanks for being there for us on our journey.

meg & ash

P.S. This is our 100th post too!!
