Last Day for Giveaway: Hue Fielding

Today’s the last day to enter for the Hue Fielding Giveaway! Make sure that you go and enter for these cute pants!

Good luck!  We’ll announce the winner tonight after 5pm!

Happy Easter!!

I know every one will get tons of Easter posts today so maybe we can make this one a little different with a special giveaway from our sponsor Hue Fielding.

Remember these Hue Fielding trousers you saw on Jax Friday?  Super cute with  little extra dash of unique boy-ness!

Herringbone Trousers from Hue Fielding

Best of all they’re versatile, I think they work both for fancy events as well as for more casual outfits.  But these aren’t the only cute creations Hue Fielding has in her shop (I wish we had been able to have her donate for little Deester instead of Jax – darn China!!).

Cupid's Arrow Dress from Hue Fielding

Ice Cream Social Dress and Skirt set from Hue Fielding

I just love the two little girl outfits above that were from her “sold” sections.  The red dress would be SO cute on Dee and I love that she put the little turquoise button in the middle – you really only find details like that on hand made items!   Hue Fielding focuses on the best materials, simple designs and attention to detail. Above all, Hue Fielding loves color in all the right places (if you couldn’t tell from they designs). That’s why tumblewee loves supporting such creative people on etsy!

Hue Fielding is based in Guelph Ontario (did I mention I almost went to graduate school in Guelph?).  They’re tag line is “making incredibly good things for good kids everywhere. Unexpected, brilliant color!” Perfect for them right?

She has such cute little spring inspired outfits right now . . . like these little jumper shorts.

Sweet Floral Overalls from Hue Fielding

If you’re in the Waterloo area next Saturday April 14th,  Hue Fielding will be at the Stitch n Kitsch Spring sale in Waterloo, so stop by and visit them!

Fashion Friday: Easter Inspired

It’s Fashion Friday!  As our theme for the past week or two has been about Easter . . . so too is this one!

Jax and I choose outfits that would be fit for any Easter Brunch with a little vintage flare.

We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to sport some amazing Etsy finds.

On Jax – an adorable pair of Wool Herringbone Little Boy Pants by HughFielding.  This shop has some totally cute little kids clothes.  You should check them out.  The pants were inspired by bespoke mens fashion.  They are 100% wool herringbone with a blue striped mens shirting cotton detail.   The herringbone is supersoft midweight brown/black with an Elastic waistband.

The second Etsy find is a pair of Lace Earrings by Bumble.  They are totally amazing and every mother needs a pair!  She has other beautiful jewelry on her site as well.  What I love about them  . . . they are romantic, yet edgy.

Also on me, a yellow and white cherry dress from forever21 with leggings, leather sandals, and a cute bird necklace I got as a gift a long time ago.

Make sure you take a look at the Etsy designers I mentioned above.  Next week, we’ll share a little more with you about them and their products (plus a suprise giveaway).

Have a fantastic Easter weekend!  May it be filled with egg dying and all the activities and food you enjoy.

ENJOY! ash

DIY Easter Decorations

So we’re all prepping for fabulous Easter Sundays and that means having some fabulous Easter decorations.

Here are some of the best DIY from the blog world:

Pastel colored glass

Use the colors of spring to inspire your table settings, or if you’re having a hard time visualizing go to Inspiration Home for ideas!

Pastel tables with tulips

Of course Martha also usually has some great picks .  Did you notice the bowls filled with jellybeans, grapes, and lemon drops?  I like the idea of mixed jelly beans as center pieces too!

Monochromed egg basket center piece with a touch of pussy willow.

For an eye catching center piece put those dyed eggs to good use by making a monochromed egg basket center piece in the color you choose (Digs Digs actually has many ideas).  Or if your going eclectic and colorful mix all the colors together.

Plastic Easter Eggs into toy teacups!

Don’t leave the littles out!  Their table can be so cute and a little “Alice and Wonderland-y” with these cute toy teacups and some large flowers for the back of chairs!

Large paper flowers hung on the backs of chairs

Paint sample Easter Egg Garland

If you’re pressed for time to decorate just drop by the hardware store and steal a few paint sample cards to string together this cute Easter Egg garland in your house.

Cupcake wrapper wreath! So clever!

Most of us hardly have time to make an egg wreath at this point but this easy cupcake wrapper wreath is SO cute and SO cheap!

Hope these quickies help anyone whose been lagging on the decoration front!

Monday Meals: Easter Brunch

We were so busy with the giveaway that we didn’t get around to publishing the Monday Meals!  So it’s Tuesday and late to boot but I decided you guys needed some inspiration for Easter brunch.

I themed this brunch off of what my mom traditionally made for us every Easter Sunday – cream cheese french toast casserole.

Maple Cream Cheese French Toast Casserole

  1. Place the bread cubes in a buttered 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl beat the softened cream cheese with sugar at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth and well combined.
  3. Add in eggs one at a time mixing well after each addition.
  4. Add in milk, half and half cream, maple syrup and vanilla; beat until well combined.
  5. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the bread cubes in the baking dish, using a fork or spoon gently lift the cubes so that they coat evenly with the egg mixture.
  6. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8-24 hours.
  7. Next morning set oven to 375°F.
  8. Remove the dish from the fridge and let sit out at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  9. Bake uncovered for about 45-50 minutes or until set and a golden brown colour.
  10. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with maple more maple syrup.
  11. Delicious!
My mom usually did two layers of french toast and put the cream cheese in between but this sounds yummy in little bread pudding chunks as well.
Instead of scrambled/over easy eggs my mom always made what I now call buttered eggs from our Easter eggs.

Buttered Hard Boiled Egg Mash

  1. Shell 2 hard boiled eggs
  2. Place in dish with 1-2 tablespoons of butter and mash egg and butter together
  3. Heat in microwave until butter is melted (~30 secs)
  4. Salt and pepper to taste
It is SO fattening but SO good!

Congrats to our Giveaway Winner, Shay!

We hope your kiddo(s) enjoy it!
