Fashion Friday: Celebration!

It’s Fashion Friday!

We are all dressed up for my little sister’s graduation!  Master’s that is.  They had the graduation in downtown Phoenix and then we went and celebrated later a Gallo Blanco.

I’m wearing a blue and white striped top I bought at forever 21, a black sequin pencil skirt, sandals, and Jeannie Richard band ring and earrings  (the one’s in our giveaway!).  The band ring and earrings are made out of beads and are super fun for dressing up.  They are all black, except the earrings have some gold beads in them.  They are a nice addition to any outfit, not just a semi-dressy one. (If you like them go and buy a pair at Jeannie Richard because they’re having a Post-FAB 25% sale till May 31, code POSTFAB25 at checkout).

On Jax, black gap pants, and blue babies-r-us polo he got from his auntie (the one I mentioned about the graduation and celebration at Gallo Blanco) the four above pics were taken at Gallo Blanco, out back in their pool area.  It’s a very retro, older style hotel.  The food is this amazing, fresh southwestern style food.  I would love to go back and stay there some time or take more pictures!  In their pool area they have a waterfall glass wall that runs almost the length of the pool area.  It’s really beautiful.

Don’t forget to enter our mother’s day giveaway for a chance to win all of our mother’s day’s goodies, plus these ones that I’m wearing in the pictures!

Hope you all have an amazing mother’s day!  I know I will no matter what it is as long as it involves my son!

ENJOY! ash

DIY from the Blog World: Dying Easter Eggs

As a child one of my most favorite memories for Easter Sunday was dying the eggs the week before and then hunting for them in the house on Easter morning.  Our mom was always so creative when it came to the holidays and had the BEST Easter baskets, made fabulous oven baked french toast, and hid our Easter eggs in the most secretive of places (I remember finding one in our pool table pockets!).  So I decided that this weekend I’d post some DIY eggs from the blog world to reeve the kiddies up for a great and creative holiday.

Make Easter eggs using all natural ingredients.

Tutorial using nylon stockings and suggestions for small flat leaves to use at Family Fun. Photo from KurtFML’s Flickr Photostream.  To get the colors in this photo use all natural dyes.

Japanese paper Washi Eggs

French inspired decoupage eggs from Martha Stewart

These two egg decorating methods employ the same technique found at Martha Stewart but just different papers!  Or cut little pieces from paper that inspires you and don’t cover the entire egg.

No-dye easter eggs with double-sided tape and glitter!

Do the polka dots above or cool stripes like these!

Try out some of these no-dye egg decorating ideas from Better Homes I like the double-sided adhesive strips cut into pretty designs and then dipped in glitter!

Glitter eggs from Martha for decoration

Speaking of glitter – make these pretty decorative eggs from Martha Stewarts again.

Crayon art eggs!

Psyanky-eggs

These pretty as can be eggs also use similar techniques through creating designs with wax and then dying or leaving.  The top uses simple crayons on hot eggs to produce pretty colors on eggs (remember you can use a white crayon to draw pictures and also words on eggs before dying as well).  The bottom picture is an old Ukranian method using hot candle wax to draw designs before dying the egg.

Hand paint your already dyed eggs.

Chalkboard paint eggs

Hand paint eggs after dying with water-based acrylic colors special for eggs – I love the polka dot one!  Or redecorate again and again with  chalkboard paint eggs (use colored chalk too!).  You could also use these as place settings at an Easter party.

And the biggest trend to hit easter egg dying this year . . . silk tie-dye eggs. So pretty!

If you’ve been on pinterest at all you’ve probably seen these beauties around.  Silk tie -dying.  What a good way to reuse unwanted ties.

Real chocolate eggs!

And last but not least . . . why not make real chocolate filled eggs by following Martha’s directions?

Now that the creativity is flowing go and visit our pinterest Easter board for even more ideas on egg decorating!

A Very Merry Christmas with the Martins!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.  Ash and I just got back from visiting the entire family (that hasn’t happened in years!).  Our Christmas was everything it should be – bright, merry and white.  Full of hot cocoa, turkey, and christmas cookies!  It was Jaxs’ first Christmas and Dee’s second.  Dee is at the perfect age where everything is exciting and fun (even if only for a couple of minutes).  Here are some snap shots from the week.

We started off with some Christmas-treeing and lots of snow!  I LOVE white Christmases and the White Mountains certainly delivered this year.

Dee topped the tree with the angel and Jax sat around and looked cute :)

And then we headed off to Santa’s Workshop on Christmas eve where we ate cookies and made toys and took LOTS of family photos.

And of course we opened presents on Christmas morning! The favorites were the bears and the Twilight Turtles.

Hope your Christmases were just as “merry & bright”!
