A Vintage Outdoor Wedding Theme

Hey all,

We’ve been so bad about posting with all the moves but I wanted to start a series on my vintage mountain wedding – you know for all of you planning for next year!  Let’s start at the beginning with or save the dates that Ashley made for us.

We loved the idea of using a vintage postcard feel for Portland Oregon – plus, we save on postage!

The front

The back that you can have customized for you – see the cute little message she put around the edge?

Stay tuned for more details from our wedding – you’ll LOVE all the DIY we did.

Wednesday Wants: Sesame Street Birthday Invitations

So Ashley’s not one to brag but lately we’ve been missing in action because of moves and extra side businesses (me with PDXWildlife and Ash with Intowee).  Yes you heard it right, Ashley started a new paper line on etsy.  Well OK, the “line” right now is composed of  these cute little sesame street invites that she made for Jax’s first birthday but she’s been steadily getting orders for that in between her school work.

She has lots of other really cute stuff too (like casino themed invites and my wedding stationary for a mountain themed wedding) that we’ll feature as she puts them up.

Go Ash!

Wednesday Wants: Skip Hop Lunchbox

So flipping cute!

Dee started preschool yesterday and was so excited to go to her first day.  We owed this excitement to one new item that we added to our household last Saturday – Dee’s Zebra Skip Hop Lunchbox.  It’s no secret we’ve been missing in action on the website lately – what with the wedding and the move directly after so I wasn’t able to tell you all about how obsessed Dee has become with zoo animals.  In particular the zebra, giraffe, and “lion king”.  We went to the Oregon Zoo multiple times in the weeks before our move, as a good bye to my working grounds, as well as to satiate our toddlers constant need to have “mom, dad, dee, zoo” (translation, “mom and dad I want to go to the zoo”).

So as soon as I learned that she was goign to need a lunch box for her new preschool we immediately started looking for cute animal lunchboxes and stumbled across the Skip Hop Zoo Line.

The full line-up of adorable animals

She originally wanted the giraffe but they were sold out.  But the zebra has made her so happy and has helped to keep her pumped up for school.  In fact, she was so excited for school and using her zebra lunchbox that she carried it all the way to the car, then into the schoo,l and then jigged her way to the front desk to show it off.  She keeps asking to pack the zebra lunchbox and go to school!  I’ll let you know if he keeps her this pumped up for school as the “honeymoon” period comes to a close.

Monday Meals: Croisant Sausage & Cheese Muffins

We have been SOOOOO MIA.  What’s going on with us you may ask?

Well, Meg just got married!  Congrats to Meg, Dee (her daughter), and Nate (her new husband and Dee’s Dad)!  Not only that, but they were right in the middle of a move during their wedding, which they made the huge drive/move four days after their wedding!  They are currently settling in at their new home, new jobs, new daycare, new friends, new playgrounds, etc.

What have I been up to?  Since I’ve been back from the northwest, I’m in the middle of moving myself – I’m in the middle of packing, getting ready to move next week, and then start Graduate school the following week!

To say the least, I think the two of us and our families have been a little busy and preoccupied. Which is my excuse for neglecting this awesome, cool journey called Tumblewee.

So finally!  I’m posting a Monday Meals.  This is one we did while I was up in Portland.  We (Meg, Dee, Jax, and I) LOVED these.  They were absolutely awesome!  Except, we had an issue with getting them to NOT stick to the muffin tin although we greased it.  The second time we made them we used cupcake liners, but still had a problem with them sticking.  SUGGESTIONS: make sure your careful how full you fill them; maybe use cupcake liners AND grease the muffin tin?  If you have any suggestions for this, we’d love to hear them!  I’ve been trying to concoct a parchment paper type liner…

Yields 8 Muffins

Ingredients:

4 eggs

1/4 cup milk

cooked, crumbled sausage

package of cook them yourself croissants (usually 8 per package)

shredded cheese

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to the temperature indicated on the croissant package.

2. Whisk together the milk and eggs, adding any seasoning you like.

3. Grease a muffin pan, and line the croissants in each muffin space.

4. fill halfway with egg, then add some sausage and cheese.  repeat with all muffins spaces.

5. cook about 20 mins or as indicated on the package of the croissants.

Done!  You can  make your own combinations with this recipe, just think omelets!

Mushroom, swiss, and tomato

ham, cheese

veggie and cheese

sausage, avocado, jack cheese, a little salsa

Use your imagination, maybe even a sweet one instead of savory – like french toast with bananas and/or berries!

ENJOY! ash

Wednesday Wants: Back to School Apps via Parents.com

I thought this was a really cool article by Parents.com.  Apps are becoming a major part of our lives and are not just for our phones, but for personal computers, tablets, notebooks, and laptops (I’m sure a few more could be named).

I thought Easy Reader was a cool one, which allows your to browse through ebooks from libraries.

There are a number of really good suggestions from recipe finders, schedule helpers, brain boosters… make sure you check them out.

Parents.com even has one that is perfect for me a jax, Playgrounds, that allows users to look through, rate, and enter playground information so others can learn about them.

Do you have any apps you love using that help you and/or your family?
